Alonzo Camp

Al was married to Ruth Camp and the father of Mary Weber.  He served in the Marine Corps during WW II.  He was the founder of Camp's Red Owl (Now Camps' Super Valu ).  His first grocery store, which was the first in our area, was located in his house across from Greenwood Ranch by the Little St. Germain Creek on Highway 70 East.  This was in 1946. and the house is still there.  In 1952 he constructed a grocery store in the mall, which has since been twice expanded.  This was the third building in the current mall and junction area.

Kim Camp

Residency: 1979

Kim is a daughter of Jack and Patti Koch and married to Walter Camp.  She attended college in New Jersey for four years, then helped her father in Jack's Sport Marine (Welch's Sport Shop).  Currently, she helps her husband operate and manage Preferred Heating in St. Germain.

Ruth Camp

Residency: Born here

Ruth was raised by her parents at Greenwood Ranch by the Little St. Germain River.  She is a daughter of John Powell and a sister to Jane Powell.  She married Al Camp and they built a house and garage on the other side of the road from Greenwood Ranch next to the Little St. Germain River. This is where she and her husband started the first grocery store in this area. She was involved in the operations of the Camp grocery stores until she retired.

Walter is married to Kim (Koch) Camp and the owner of Preferred Heating in St. Germain.  He served on the Northland Pines School Board, and was heavily involved in youth soccer as a coach.

Bill Cashman


Residency: 1974

Bill operated a wholesale grocery company out of Sayner. He continued in the wholesale grocery business working as an area salesman for Sysco.  After some time he worked in sales for a computer.  He currently manages the Wild Eagle convenience store just outside of Eagle River.

Sam Cardella

Residency: Late 1970's

Sam owned and operated Cardella's South Bay Resort on Little St. Germain Lake for many years. He eventually sold the cottages and is currently retired.

Cathy Clark

Cathy is married to David Clark and is the mother of Dana and Mia.  She was the secretary for St. Germain Grade School (Old Brick) for many years.   She owns and operates Cathy's Ice Cream and Candy Shoppe since 1989.

Ken served in the army during WW II.  He is the father
David Clark and moved to St. Germain from Richton Park, IL. in 1969.  He purchased and operated what is currently the St. Germain Sport Marine (Welch's Sport Shop) from 1969 - 1972.  In 1978 he purchased and operated what is known as Bob Katz's tavern (Waukegan Tavern)and eventually sold it.  He has long been involved in area real estate and construction. He is a past town chairman and currently involved in volunteer work in Minoqua, WI.

Mia is a daughter of David and Cathy Clark and a sister to Dana Clark.  Little is known about Mia, except she is married (married name unknown), has one child, and has lived in Florida for many years.

Bill is a well known Chicago Bears fan and an avid hunter. He managed the bar at the 19th Hole for several years, and now fills in bartending at the Whitetail.

Charlie Cley

Charlie built the original building and was the original owner of the The Boxer.  How he came up with that name is not entirely clear, but older residents say he was a professional boxer before moving here.

Craig was married to Melanie (Pieniazek) Coan.  He lives on Big St. Germain Lake and has his own construction business.

Douglas Coda

Douglas is a son of Gene Coda.  He worked in the Louisiana offshore oil fields before moving to back to St. Germain to take over operations of his father's company, Coda Electric.

Jerry was a long-time resident of St. Germain.  He purchased and operated Richard Merrill's Resort on Lost lake.  He was an avid outdoorsman and deeply interested in conservation of our wildlife and the preservation of Lost Lake.

David Consoer (Elder)

Residency: 1961

David was a son of John Consoer. He owned and operated Pinehurst Resort on West Bay of Little St. Germain for many years.  David was very active with the Chamber of Commerce, early snowmobile trail development, and other community organizations and activities. After selling the resort, he started a screen printing company (Consoer Lettering) in his home.  He then moved the business to a separate building and added a sign business.  He passed away in 1997 from heart problems.  Location of interment is in St. Germain Cemetery.

Henry did not care for his first name and preferred to be called "Red."  He was well-known, well-liked, and  one of the founders of the St. Germain Wildlife Club.  His home was on East Bay of Little St. Germain Lake.
